So…. how are you?  Long time, I know.

I was diagnosed with post-partum depression in March and it’s been a heckuva battle to keep my head above water.  Thus, I’ve had little to really write – and even less energy to write it.

But things are turning around, and I thank you for keeping tabs on my progress!

Since this was really a blog about my pregnancy, I’m going to transition to a new blog, more focused on parenting, called Wigglet McFancyPants.  Please head on over to continue the saga of me and my family, as we wander bravely through life, only occasionally bumping into things and stubbing our toes.

Hope to see you there!

Amelia talks it out March 17, 2009

Since I have had little to say for myself lately and even less time to say it in, I thought I’d let Amelia say her piece.

There’s a long pause there in which she’s considering her phrasing.

Today was my first day back at work after 8 weeks of maternity leave.  Tom had the baby for about 12 hours, and at one point she cried for almost an hour solid.  She was fussy and reluctant to take the bottle, the latter of which is actually pretty rare heretofore.

I worked 10 hours on 3 hours of sleep and pumped milk out of my breasts three times today in a freezing IT closet.

Tomorrow Tom goes in to work for 12 or 14 hours and I try to work for 5 hours while caring for Amelia and getting her to her first pediatrician appointment.

January might be a long month.

We are officially in active labor. I probably won’t be able to post again for a long while but rest assured all is well. Baby will be here in a while.

No longer gestating November 9, 2008

Tom here, otherwise known as “baby daddy”. Just a bit of an update.

Andrea started leaking a good amount of amniotic fluid yesterday morning followed by a little panic on both our parts. Shortly afterward Andrea had a few mild contractions. We rallied the troops and had mass mobilization to get supplies (diaper service, munchies) and last minute chores (we have saints for friends).

Apparently all the hustle and bustle gave Amelia stage fright. After consulting our Midwife we tucked in for some rest before the labor kicked in. We did have some worries that the labor wasn’t progressing. But some other circumstances allow us some wiggle room with time.

Andrea woke up at 1 hungry and worried. She let me sleep till about 5:30. We made a plan and I calmed her a little. The techniques suggested by the midwife started to kick in and I think it’s all going to be fine.

It’s a little after 7 and the contractions are fairly regular at 5-7 minutes apart. I guess Amelia wanted to be born on a Sunday.
